Preventive Cat Health—Visiting the Vet
Regular veterinary visits should be an important part of every cat's life. Schedule annual vet visits for your cat's routine checkup and, if necessary, vaccinations. Annual examinations allow your vet the opportunity to evaluate your cat's health and detect feline health problems before they turn into serious cat diseases or illnesses. Senior cats over 11 years old should make at least one vet visit per year. However, some older kitties may need biannual visits for optimal feline health care.
If your cat appears sick or injured, then your cat should visit the vet immediately. Also, if you notice rapid weight loss in your senior cat, take him or her to the vet; this could be a sign of a serious illness. It may help to post your vet's office hours and phone number in a visible place for easy reference in case of an emergency.
