Anemia in Cats

Feline anemia is a blood disease caused by an inadequate number of red blood cells in the circulatory system. Excessive blood loss, cat worms, flea infestation, poor nutrition, and long-term diseases such as chronic kidney failure and cancer can cause anemia.

Signs of anemia include:

  • decreased activity
  • pale gums
  • poor appetite

Treatments are decided based on the individual causes. If left untreated, cat anemia can become a life-threatening feline health condition.
