CatAge: Fast Facts

Feline Panleukopenia

Also known as feline distemper, feline panleukopenia is a highly contagious viral disease transmitted between cats via contact with bodily secretions.

Signs of panleukopenia include:

  • lack of appetite
  • high fever
  • depression
  • dehydration
  • vomiting

Although there are no medications available to kill the virus, your veterinarian may be able to provide supportive therapy to prevent secondary infections and boost your cat's immune system. A vaccination can help prevent this condition.
