Feline Respiratory Infection

Cats are most susceptible to three highly contagious respiratory infections, all of which can be fatal: feline viral rhinotracheitis, calcivirus, and feline pneumonitis. These infections can be easily transferred via direct contact from cat to cat. Your cat's best line of defense from infection is vaccination. Ask your veterinarian about a feline vaccination program that is appropriate for your cat.

Signs of respiratory infection include:

  • serious cold-like symptoms, such as nasal discharge
  • lack of appetite
  • depression
  • fever
  • pneumonia
