Pet Pedicures

By CatAge Staff

Regular claw care protects indoor cats from nail overgrowth and infection.

To trim your cat's nails, hold your cat around his or her chest with your forearm. Taking a paw in your hand, press gently on the pad, exposing the nails. Trim only the white tip; cutting into the pink quick can cause pain and bleeding. For darker nails, be sure to cut beyond the curve of the nail. Also, use clippers designed for trimming cats' claws.
